What did Cassie mean when she said"a day like this perhaps would never come again"?

Cassie makes this comment in regard to TJ's trial. Stacey wants to go into town because the verdict is being handed down.... the other children want to go as well, but their parents have forbidden it. Because nothing like this (the trial) might ever happen again, Cassie figures the whipping she knows she'll receive for attending the trial will be well worth it. Thus, the children skip school and go to town.
