Who is Abe and Nancy. from Last Exit to Brooklyn and what is their importance?

Abe is a stud obsessed with his own image, buying himself a Cadillac car and spending most of his time either doing his hair or talking about his sex life with anyone that will listen. His attititude is in detriment to his family and particular his wife Nancy. Nancy craves attention and yet spends most of her time alone in the house. At the end of Coda, she starts directing her anger towards her children.
