An underlying idea of the novel is friendship. The novel talks about the special bond and friendship that Isabel and Morgan share. Eventually, Isabel and Morgan also bring Colie into the fold and teach Colie what friendship and having girlfriends is like for the first time in Colie's life. Even though Isabel and Morgan fight constantly and as if they are sisters, the two girls always have their best interests in mind. When Colie becomes part of their friendship, they act in her best interests as well.
