Count Keyserling was a monied, German philosophe,r who traveled the world and wrote about his journeys. H.H. suggests that Keyserling was not a member of the League, although many people outside the League considered him to be. Hesse also claims that the accounts of his journeys have nothing to do with the Journey to the East.
