What is significant about the fire that happens in Chapter 15 of Jane Eyre?

Fire is often used in this novel and in many repects acts as an instrument of change. It is during the fire in Chapter 15 that Jane begins to suspect that not is all as it seems at Thornfield, and she also confronts her growing feelings (fire) that she feels for Rochester.
