Who is James-Stanier Clarke from Jane Austen's Letters and what is their importance?

Born in 1867, James-Stanier Clarke was an author, a biographer and a naval chaplain. In 1805l, he became the Domestic Chaplain and Librarian to the Prince of Wales, which is how he met Jane Austen. He facilitated Jane's dedication of "Emma" to the prince regent. He also tries to encourage Jane to write romantic novels.
