The imagery is consistent with Jack's life. Jack writes this autobiography from a lifetime of experience. He chronicles his childhood, pointing out how, where, or from whom he acquires his natural competitive nature and self-confidence, as well as his people skills and curiosity and reach. He exemplifies that learning to lose is as important as winning and how failures, more often than not, are learning experiences. There is also such a thing as staying too long in one place, position, or job rather than risking change.
