Dinesen utilized metaphor to blur the line between good and evil. As a result, her stories were more challenging than those written with a general audience in mind. A common metaphor for this "blurring" is the idea of approaching an abyss, looking into it, thinking about taking a leap into it..... and then simply turning away.
