In Chapter Three, it is interesting to note that Francis begins his transformations by cleaning up his feet and groin area, which are the two locations of the root chakra in traditional alternative medicine practices. The root chakra represents one's security, stability, and roots, and provides an apt metaphor for the part of his life Francis seeks to transform.
