How does the author use foreshadowing in In Particular?

At the start of the poem, Byrne uses potent words that foreshadow the negative "sudden disaster" later in the poem, an event that brings an "inhospitable truth." Although the "truth" is never clearly expressed, it is quite possible, as the words "last time" indicate, that this truth is a potentially fatal disaster.
