Who is Hecuba from The Iliad and what is their importance?

Hecuba is the daughter of Dymas and Priam's wife. She and Priam have a number of children, including Hector, Paris, and Cassandra. When Troy fell, she was awaded to Odysseus as a prize..... and her daughter, Polyxena, was sacrificed at the tomb of Achilles.
