Carlos II, also known as el Hechizado (the bewitched) was a Spanish King. During reign, Carlos II used the Plaza Mayor as a setting for the inquisition trials and sentencing. He was the last living member of the Habsburg dynasty, and like many others in his family, he suffered severely from a mental disorder. After his death, the Borbon rulers took the Spanish throne.
