John's powers are revealed to Sam (I am Number Four) when both of them get into trouble in Athens, Ohio trying to save Henri. A Mogadorian attacks them and in the battle Sam is thrown down some stairs. John catches him using his abiltiies so that he doesn't break his neck from the fall. Sam sees and understands what's going on at this point.
