Who is Jon from I'll Be Seeing You and what is their importance?

Jon is Janelle's boyfriend. Initially, he is quite rude to Carley but later comes to understand that she is a strong, amazing person. Over the course of the novel, Jon becomes Carley's advocate and knight in shining armor..... standing up for her when another boy is shocked by Carley's appearance.
