One major theme in the play is friendship. This theme is illustrated through the relationship between Prince Hal and Falstaff.... a relationship that ends with Hal's ascension to the throne. It's all about keeping proper company..... getting into mischief was a key component of being a prince, but once king, Henry tosses all tomfoolery aside.
