Who is Hagrid from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and what is their importance?

Hagrid, a half-giant, is Harry, Ron, and Hermione's good friend. He is the groundskeeper at Hogwarts, and he is always willing to do anything to protect Harry. Hagrid is later wanted by the Death Eaters for throwing a "support Harry Potter party" on school grounds.
