How does Ophelia die?

Ophelia, Hamlet's fiance, dies in the Shakespeare Tragedy named, Hamlet. She becomes despondent because Hamlet has spurned her. He, of course, does this hoping to insulate and protect her from what is about to happen at the castle. But, like most of Hamlet's schemes, it backfires and Ophelia in a state of melanchology drowns in a brook.
