The role of propaganda ids a recurring idea. As Che makes clear throughout Guerilla Warfare, propaganda is a key tool and objective of the guerilla war. The guerilla war against the old regime is not only or even primarily a war against the military forces of the old regime but rather a war for minds. No matter how successful the guerilla army is on the battlefield, if they do not win the hearts and minds of the people, they will never be able to find a safe place to hide of adequate supplies.
