Meno is a professional philosopher and Socrates' philosophical adversary. He represents the position of Gorgias, a Sophist. Meno defines virtue by listing various virtues for people in various states of life. Socrates, however, finds his definition insufficient, and he proceeds to take Meno on an investigation of what virtue itself is.
