Born in Selymbria in the 5th BC, Herodicus was a Greek physician. He was, in fact, the first to use therapeutic exercise as part of his treatment for disease and health maintenance. He was also Hippocrates teacher. Herodicus believed that a good diet and herbal massages were beneficial. He also recommended long walks. His theories founded sports medicine, and he was to be a gymnastic-master, and a sophist.
