Polus is young and full of vigor. He is eager to respond to Socrates and display his talents. More enthusiastic about the power of oratory than its definition. Polus' interest in performance instigates belief and even promotion of rhetoric. At first, his impatience maintains the discussion. It isn't long, however, before his emotions take over, and he fails to keep up with Socrates.
