Chaerephon is one of Socrates disciples. He assists in the discourse, helping Socrates when it is necessary to unfold the argument. Chaerephon's speech and words emulate his masters in order to help effect the intended meaning. He also imitates the manner in which Socrates asks questions. While giving his master aid, he is also learning. Chaerephon is well known in social circles, and his confidence of arranging the meeting indicates that he is a popular man. Talkative and friendly, he is also able to fulfill his master's desire to question Gorgias.
