Describe symbolism in Gandhi, the Man by Eknath Easwaran

I think the making of salt stands out for me as a major symbol. The British government had a monopoly on salt in India. Marching to the Indian Ocean and scooping salt from it was a powerful symbol of defiance against the British government.
