Jawaharlal Nehru was considered Gandhi's biggest political supporter. A well-educated and traveled son of a lawyer who, upon returning to India from abroad wished to rebel against British domination, but had to be talked down from his desire for violence. He soon became one of Gandhi's closest followers. His family, wealthy and privileged, asked Gandhi for their son back, and instead he won them all to his cause one by one.
