One major theme in the play, Funnyhouse of a Negro, is loneliness and alienation. This theme is illustrated through Sarah's belief that her mixed heritage leave her unfit for either world.... the black world or the white world. Her confusion leads her to isolate herself, and also to reject her father when he reaches out to her..... over and over again.
