What is the theme in Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen?

One major theme in the novel is being yourself.... being comfortable in your own skin. The greatest example of this in the novel is found in the character of Juli, who doesn't compromise the things she loves in favor of pretending to be interested in other things just to be popular.
