What is the theme in Ferdydurke by Witold Gombrowicz?

One main theme in the novel is immaturity, the inability to grow up. This theme is illustrated through Joey's inability and lack of desire to assert himself as an adult, a condition taken advantage of by the teachers in his school, who prey on immaturity and do all they can to make sure their students don't grow up.
