Coach Crater is a bully and an unkind teacher. Crater often uses Janie as an example in the classroom because he dislikes her. However, when Janie is able to bench press one hundred and twenty pounds, Coach Crater seems to be put in his place. Coach Crater attends Mr. Durbin's party and tries to take advantage of Janie, but she manages to get the better of him. Later, Janie realizes that Coach Crater must have raped Stacey O'Grady at a previous party because Stacey has bad dreams about him.
