Orestes is the son of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon and Electra's brother. After his mother and her lover kill Agamemnon, Aegisthus tries to kill Orestes. As Agamemnon's son, he has both the power and obligation to revenge his father's death. Agamemnon's servant thwarts Aegisthus' plan and takes Orestes into exile. Orestes returns for revenge on Aegisthus and Clytemnestra, which fulfills Aegisthus's greatest fears.
