Wulfgar is a son of Rothgar. His father sent him to fetch Buliwyf to battle the wendol. Wulfgar, however, is also fleeing his father's lands for his own safety. His brother, Wiglif, who has already murdered three of their brothers seeks to obtain the throne by any means possible. Thus, once Wulfgar delivers his message, and it is clear Buliwyf will undertake the journey, Wulfgar remains in Wyglif's lands instead of returning home right away.
