In Chapter 5 of Dragonwings, how does Moon Shadow's point of view change of his dad?

In the beginning of the book Moon shadow never met his dad and was curious so he went to the golden mountain to find his dad

In Chapter Five, Moon Shadow acquires a glimpse of the man his father once was. Windrider becomes the protective father..... a father who seeks revenge against an act of violence on his child. This is something Moon Shadow has not seen before.
