Who is Kara Finch from Diamonds in the Shadow and what is their importance?

Kara Finch is Jared and Mopsy's mother. It was her idea to take in the African refugee family, and she personally enjoys organizing their schedules, contacting doctors, and arranging school visits. Kara puts all of her efforts into helping the Amabo family, never realizing the real horrors they been through. The Amabos often find Kara more annoying than helpful.
