Commitment is a motif in the story. Bond is fully committed to his job because he loves the excitement of it. Whenever Bond is relegated to a desk he is bored and unhappy. However, when Bond is out in the field fighting the bad guys and running toward danger, he is extremely happy. Bond can imagine nothing better in life than fighting crime in the name of his government.
