Claire Lyons, Dial L for Loser, is the unlikely friend of Massie. They meet because Claire's family is renting the guest cottage from Massie's family. They aren't as wealthy as Massie's family, but Massie and Claire become friends anyway. Later, when Claire auditions for the movie, Dial L for Loser, she wins the part and becomes a movie star.
