Who was Dave Singleman and what impression did he make on Willy in Death of a Salesman?

Dave Singleman represents the "successful" salesman who makes his living with no more than a phone call. He dies at 84 but remains mythic among salesmen for doing all of his deals over the phone rather than in person. Willy aspires to be like him.
