The theme of retribution is a important message in Wiesel's Dawn. In the novel, Wiesel addresses Kovner's complaint that the Jews did not fight back during the Holocaust, followed by their unity after joining together in Palestine. He then focuses on the anger and hatred, the retribution, and whether or not the retribution in justified.
