How are women represented in Cyrano de Bergerac?

They are portrayed as being self assured and confident. They are opinionated and allowed to be so. Roxanne is a good example of this. She does not associate with peole who are shallow or proud, or those who only want her in a lustful way. She knows the type of man and love she wants and she is not willing to 'settle'.
