Shepard breaks the play down into three acts. Each act is packed full of movement of the characters, arguments and accusations. There are very few quiet moments, keeping each act full of action and drama. Over the course of these three acts only a couple of days pass, and though most of the action happens on stage in the kitchen, many events are said to have happened offstage.
