Who is Colleen from Cradle and All and what is their importance?

Fourteen-year-old Colleen is the second of two virgins to find herself pregnant. Colleen resides in Maam Cross, Ireland with her severely ill mother. She attends the Holy Trinity School for girls, but has been home schooled during her pregnancy. The community has dealt harshly with her predicament and is not supportive. Instead, she is scorned and vocally ridiculed when she goes outside her home. Colleen faces danger during her pregnancy but ultimately gives birth to a live son. When her medical history is revealed late in the story the reader discovers that Colleen is a virgin; her pregnancy comes not from a human source, but is instead a creation of the Devil. Father Rosetti and Justin are sent to protect her and the human race.
