One of the hallmarks of Gibson's novel is its technological language. Gibson coined the term cyberspace to describe a virtual world of information that would exist in the future. The novel is filled with other terms that denote advances in technology. Biosoft, for example, is the term for software that directly communicates with the brain, turning information into immediate knowledge.
