Coming of Age in Mississippi

Are we, as a society, attentive to the power of language and how it can be used to shape an idea? What does this mean to you?

Words are powerful, though many are not consciously aware of the fact. Those who are aware of it are able to use it as a tool to manipulate and persuade large groups of people to their cause. This is the case in Coming of Age in Mississippi with Anne Moody. She never saw herself as a writer, but as an activist. She understood the power of language and story and used this to further her political agenda.
