How does the author use foreshadowing in Cold Comfort Farm?

Flora's admiration for Jane Austen foreshadows her quest to be the "heroine" in her new home. Over the course of the novel, Flora will attempt to tackle each of the Starkadder's problems, so that life can be tidy and organized without the pall of misery and gloom surrounding the farm.
