Do you believe Lev's capture for stealing from the dead German bomber pilot was a blessing in disguise?

I think Lev might have wanted to stay out of prison in the firrst place. Their subsequent adventure finding the eggs takes them on a journey that improves Lev's life but it comes at a price (unfortunately Koyla is shot to death). It is difficult to know where life takes you.
