What influence does the Japanese presence have on Adeline and her family in the book "Chinese Cinderella"?

it has quite an effect - it causes her dad to move and later on, niang, out of fear that they would take his business. this means that the remaining kids are left with aunt baba and yeye and i believe adeline writes that this period of time was the happiest and calmest one.adeline also briefly mentions the fear the chinese have of the japanese.hope this helps.
