What is the author's style in Canyons by Gary Paulsen?

The language of this novel is simple. The novel is written for young readers; therefore the writer uses grammar and language that is easy for the youngest readers to comprehend. Although one of the main characters is an Apache Indian, there is little in the way of foreign words in the novel; therefore the reader will not become confused by strange words.
