Pompeia Sulla is the granddaughter Sulla's granddaughter and Caesar's second wife. Aurelia suggests Caesar marry her to eliminate any suspicion of his affair with Servilia. By marrying her, Caesar will also align himself with a great family. Unfortunately, Pompeia is a dumb and silly girl, and Caesar tires of her quickly. Aurelia then takes responsibility for her and monitors her every move. Caesar eventually divorces her because of the Bona Dea fiasco with Clodius. She is innocent, but her slave's participation in the plot reflects poorly on her. Caesar then marries his former wife off to his friend Publius Vatinius in exhange for his loyalty. Pompeia is an example of the fate of Roman noblewomen, who lack the intelligence of Aurelia and the strength of Servilia.
