Marcus Tullius Cicero was a famous Roman writer, speaker and lawyer. Married to a wealthy and noble plebeian wife, he lacks noble ancestry and descends from a wealthy family from the country. Through his gift of words, Cicero rises in the Roman government and aligns himself with the boni faction, and though the boni faction doesn't consider him one of them, they have no qualms about using him when necessary. Cicero is elected as senior consul in order to block Catilina's bid for power. In the end, we that that Cicero is an example of how wealth and intellect can prove just as powerful as a noble birth.
