The book is written in a fairly straightforward style with a reasonable vocabulary. The story is divided between dialogue and narrative and both are reasonable and believable. The action moves fairly quickly though the writer seems to get caught up sometimes in directions. In a few cases, these elaborate directions seem to have a purpose. For example, as Alex is leaving the restaurant in Oceanside with Ezra and headed to Ezra's farm, Ezra gives Alex directions.
