Chimera is a metaphor for death and destruction. This super-virus is named Chimera after a mythological animal that is part lion, part goat and part serpent. It is a potent mixture of smallpox and HIV-1 meant to infect Americans, spread quickly, and be impossible to neutralize with current smallpox vaccines available. Over time, this virus would cause widespread death, which would lead to additional death, as well as fears of going in public and that would grind the economy to a halt and bring America to its knees. When the rocket is found after it crashes in the water, the super-virus is removed and every sample is destroyed.
