How does the author use foreshadowing in Black Wind?

The novel's introduction closes with a paragraph telling the reader that the sailors on the destroyer had no idea how close they had come to "the unspeakable horror" they had just saved the country from. It foreshadows the primary adventure when it says, "Nor could they know that the horror still awaited," (Introduction, page 23) closing out the introduction.
